Fraud Payment or Scam on Paypal - No help from Paypal

I got email from Paypal to notice I got a payment of 1,243.34AUD out of my account via Paypal. I'm based in Australia but the shipping address is to United States and the merchant is CONTEXTLOGIC AUSTRALIA PTY LTD , which I did not place any order or purchase anything online from them. I reckon it is fraudulent. 

I reported the problem to paypal and they are responsive with the answer is they can't do anything because it was automatic payment . Paypal is a payment gateway but they are hopeless on my case and it is not small amount. I had contacted the bank this morning for void the payment and further investigation since Paypal disclaim this fraud payment. 

please anyone is facing the same problem as mine?

PayPal dont want to know anymore. I was always refunded by them for fraudulent transactions until 2 days ago, they said 2 payments from my account went unauthorised even though I knew nothing about them.

Yes this happened to me last night. I had an unauthorised payment to CONTEXTLOGIC AUSTRALIA PTY LTD for a sum of $1,276.06 AUD (purchase of an iPhone) and a delivery address in Houston Texas (I live in Australia). I have an open Resolution ticket with PayPal and they are investigating. 

Initially they responded with the same answer - that it was a pre-authorised payment and therefore not protected. This was incredibly alarming to me because I make all my online transactions via PayPal because it is supposedly secure and protected against fraud. 

So I contacted them and was put through to their Security team who have been initially helpful. I am awaiting the investigation.

They have put a hold on the payment to CONTEXTLOGIC while the investigation runs so I am hopeful of a positive outcome.

I will post an update when I get a response.

Thanks Lyndall. Yeah I also got that amount on purchase of an iPhone as well and shipping to Nebraska US which I have no clue. 

May I check you contact Paypal via phone call or email, could you please share contact so I can contact them again to follow up my case.

Hi NhuHoang,

After I got the email from the Resolution team denying my claim, I used the Message facility to contact PayPal. I told the responder that i wanted to complain about the outcome of my claim because this wasn't just a disputed transaction, but an unauthorised transaction which was a case of FRAUD. They transferred me through to their SECURITY team and I communicated with a man called Ethan. He was very helpful. I checked that they were withholding the funds from CONTEXTLOGIC because there was a pending dispute. They reopened the ticket and confirmed that they were withholding funds while the investigation took place. 

I hope we are both able to get this theft resolved successfully 

(Because there are at least 2 of us, hopefully, we will get a rightful outcome - particularly because we both reported it quickly before the funds were transferred from Paypal to the merchant.)

Thanks Lyndall, Paypal is so irresponsible for my case, they closed my case without any further actions. and I tried to contact them again, they did get back to me but the answer is still the same. I'm very disappointed. I had contact NAB and report fraudulent , they finally filed my case and under investigations now, but at least they will get back to me with a positive outcome. I have asked around a lot of my network commented the similar issues and Paypal is worse.

Oh - I'm sorry to hear that! Hopefully NAB will get some satisfaction. It's a very definite case of fraud and there are at least 3 related cases in this community and maybe more.

I've contacted my bank as well and they are now investigating further. They might have a bit more power of negotiation with PayPal.

(I'll let you know how i go, but the bank warned me it wouldn't be quick and could be up to 90 days....)

they bank told me the same, but i got the message from their Fraud team sound quite positive. I'll let you know my updates too.

p.s again i received another disgusting email from paypal to denied my case today

What is NAB ?

I have been scammed as well identical to the above but different company name and also paypal are not interested and keep closing the case and help would be amazing.

thanks Lyndall. Agian Paypal washed me off and disclaim the fraud with the reason that was automatic payment which i had agreed in 2018. very disgusting , im very disappointed

i had contacted nab again and im feeling better with their positive responses. hope they can help. PAYPAL IS HOPELESS
