Error with Dispute

PayPal send to provide no appeal process when they make an error in settling a dispute. In my exam, Groupon sold me a voucher for a non-existent BUSINESS. They said they would issue a refund and did not. I disputed on PayPal. PayPal found in favor of Groupon. I can't see any response by Groupon and must assume the papal employee didn't read all of the info and proof I provided OR Groupon provided false information to PayPal. Either way, Groupon now refuses to correct their error and PayPal left me on hold for 1.5 hours after my FOURTH call to than trying to reach the dispute department. I've got 5 hours now invested in trying to get my refund. I have screenshots and chat logs with Groupon to support my claims but can't get anywhere with either company. Terrible customer service to say the least. I've filled a complaint with the BBB but there are thousands of complaints against Groupon so that will most likely not prove helpful. The best one? Groupon STILL lists the bogus voucher for sale. Where is the help and protection from exactly this type of predatory fraud PayPal? 😞

They did not make a mistake, you had no buyer protection for that sort of transaction.

  • Financial products or investments of any kind.
  • Businesses (when you buy or invest in a business).
  • Vehicles, including, but not limited to, motor vehicles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, aircraft and boats.
  • Significantly Not as Described claims for wholly or partly custom-made items.
  • Donations including payments on crowdfunding platforms.
  • Items prohibited by the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy.
  • For Item Not Received claims, items which you collect in person or arrange to be collected on your behalf, including items bought in a seller’s store location.
  • Industrial machinery used in manufacturing.
  • Anything purchased from, or an amount paid to, a government agency.
  • Stored value items such as gift cards and pre-paid cards.
  • Gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize.
  • Payments sent using PayPal’s friends and family functionality.
  • Payments sent using PayPal to any bill payment service.
