I received a massage from paypay saying"payment has been made to xxxx for $2800. I reported this straight way to say I hadn't made the transaction. Followed all thier protocol to change my passwords and report the unauthorised transaction. Then received and email - case closed as they didn't think it was unauthorised no refund would be made. I cancelled the dd to my bank thinking that if they couldn't take the payment - they wouldn't send it. Unfortunately that is not the case. I now have a negative balance in PayPal to which they say they will pass for debt collection. I did not make the payment. I reported it instantly that my account had been hacked and I did not make the payment. They have done absolutely nothing to investigate but still debited my PayPal account and are now threatening debt collection. I am at a loss as what to do next?
