Account Limitation

Hello! I received an email from PayPal asking for proof of identity and address verification. I sent a government residency proof and my passport. Paypal replied by saying my account would be closed and limited because I moved from Guatemala (the country where I lived when I opened my account) to Spain, my current residency country. They are asking me to open a new Paypal account *from* Spain, but are also retaining my balance for 180 days!!! HALF A YEAR! can someone please help me out?! I had no idea I needed to notify Paypal if I moved to a new country, and I don´t know what to do nor how to contact the support center since the only number is in the US and they´ll only speak to account holders. Thank you for any guidance you can help with!

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.
