hi. I have had one experiment with the card reader, at a craft sale yesterday. So far I have had a few issues with the reader, which I will investigate further via these pages. My first queston is: does anyone have any experience with the card reader battery life? I charged the thing fully, but it went totally flat and turned off after three hours. I feel this is quite poor. After all, I suppose a number of people will want to use this thing the way I have, at a craft fair where access to power was very limited. I need the card reader to be alive a heck of a lot longer thatn 3 hours. I could conceivably re-charge overnight, but 3 hours is just not enough. Any other experiences would be very valuable, thanks
I do find it frustrating. The 'rules' about where to post are not accurate. This post has nothing to do with selling on eBay, selling from my website, or reversals. OK, there has to be structure, but if there is to be structure it needs to encompass all the possibilities

Hi Thanks for your contribution. Your experience very closely matches mine. I have to say that my opinion closely matches yours!! In this day and age, not only should a company like Miura systems be able to make a reliable piece of kit, but PayPal people ought to be able to make sure that the kit they source is worthy of their branding. This thing is not a good product, by a long way.

I haven't asked for another replacement, a better solution for me would be for PayPal to source a more reliable unit and provide all of us existing users with it.

I would be very interested to know: 1) how many people bought one of these from PayPal, 2) how many people have had problems and reported problems, 3) whether the number of problems is a significant proportion of the installed base, 4) whether, if it is a significan proportion, PayPal recognises it as a significnt problem, 5) whether PayPal is going to be proactive and find a solution, 6) or whether PayPal is going to ride out the bad feedback and ignore it. PayPal is big enough to ignore a small group of disgruntled users, because, as has been shown throughout history, a monopoly position allows the holder of that molopoly posititon to pretty much do what they want. They are the only game in town (not for card payments, there are iZettle, Sum Up, and lots more) but in their realm of paying for web transactions from an anonymous intermediary, PayPal is about the only option. I Need to consider whether to ask for a refund.

I agree with all of that vikingtone but not sure how you would obtain some of those stats. It would be a good start for PayPal UK to acknowledge to the forum that this thread contains evidence of a problem that they need to address seriously. Come on PayPal, let's see some proper Customer Service, offering like-for-like replacements of these devices IS NOT AN ANSWER!!

We purchased two units for use at our FLy Fishing lakes. They have worked OK with a pair of iPads. But now, aftger 6 month neither device holds a charge. This renders then useless as we us them on river banks and not in the office with no access to a power supply.
Has anybody recevied a working replaceemnt?
Thanks

I am so tired of the unreliability of this product . Like so many of you have posted Pay Pal must know there is a serious problem with the battery life. I am now on my second replacement device and it is just the same as the first - I am also going to try and get a refund

I've just started using PayPal here and I'm impressed with the way it works, except for the battery life. My day is spent in my car so I can keep it on a charger but it's not ideal. It can do 8 hours from fully charged with a couple of uses. When its not in use the bluetooth link is dropped so battery use should be low.
The annoying thing is the lack of 'shelf life' when charged. It just doesn't hold it. As a previous post said, it behaves like a NiCd battery.
I was thinking of asking for a replacement but after reading this thread I'm not so sure.
