PayPal Here Card Reader - Flashing Red and green Light

Hi,

Having problems with this card reader, its poor battery life causes problems to start with, but yesterday in the middle of a customer keying in their pin it just started flashing green and red.

I have tried holding the reset button down, for very long periods! it just reboots, starts flashing green and eventually the red light is added to this flashing green light.

I have tried turning it off and on again, holding the sync button but nothing is working. 

I have called (friday morning) and arranged for a new one to be sent out, which I wont get until wednesday apparently! 

This leaves me stuck as far as being able to take payments. It needs to be done with a pin number as the payments are around £100 on average, I dont want someone going to their bank and saying that wasnt me, the banks will just give them their money back as its not been authorised with chip and pin!

Is there any way I can reset this device in an attempt to get it working again? 

(Ive followed instructions to reset, but it doesnt seem to do anything other than reboot the thing)

Also, no matter what I do, I cannot get the bluetooth light to illuminate at all.

Jayne, You need a new card reader. Mine did this and all I was told was make sure its charged. Reset it etc but nothing worked. You need to ask for a new card reader and they will collect the old one. Sooner you request a new one the sooner you will get back up and running. Ian

This is happening to me I have done the reset as suggested, however still isnt working, how quickly can you get a replacemnet device out to me? I have an event Thursday?

@ana-moly Our specialists can usually get a replacement device out to you in a couple of working days but I know that event has probably passed by now. Why don't you call the number I gave slowhand1 though to discuss this further?

My card reader is also flashing red and green and doing the factory reset doesn't solve the problem. The green light flashes but no asterisk lights up, it then just starts to flash from red to green again.

I bought my PayPal Here card reader about 2 years ago... but have used it max 2 times.  It didnt really work - so i didnt think about getting in touch  If honest - i didnt  know about this forum.  I dont often have to use it, so forgot about it.  Thought it was just me being untechy.

Only after googling ( as i need it tomorrow ) i found this site...  I tried to use it 2 weeks ago - but same thing happened.  The red and green light just stays flashing.  It wont even show a blue tooth light.  I have tried to put a pin in by the on off button and hold as i saw you suggested someone else try that.  But nothing happens.

What do you suggest?  Sadly for me it has been a total waste of my money as from day 1 it hasn really worked.   I felt it was me being untechy or due to no wifi... but I see after googling  - its the machine and not me at all.  So thats one positive thing!

Ian is right, it does sound like you need a replacement card reader.

You would need to call us on <removed> <removed> or email us at <removed> and we can check this out for you and help you with getting a replacement card reader issued.

it is out of the one year warranty. what hurts the most as my business is seasonal, i only used it four times!! waste of money and time. looking for other brands now

I'm having the same problem. I have only used the device once.

Just getting the red/green flashing light and no bluetooth light. Tried pressing the sunch buttom but nothing happens. The device has been full charged before trying.
