PayPal is a unique online payment processor, dedicated to protecting all of our members privacy and security. As such, each account starts out with an initial lifetime Sending Limit.
Once this limit is reached, PayPal must verify more information about you before continuing to process payments. As an online processor, we're subject to multiple regulations, and as such, we have to know our customers. The way we do this by asking our members to become Verified, which will mean adding and confirming a bank account. This increases the security and safety of all of our members.
If you haven't yet hit your Sending Limit, there's no need to become Verified yet unless you want or need to add an additional funding option.
Even if you do add your bank, and don't want to use it for purchases, you don't have to. Just select "more options" when checking out to charge the card instead. You can also rest assured that PayPal won't debit the bank without your authorization.
