What if package does not arrive and seller only has proof of postage and no tracking?

I pay for purchases via Paypal.

I also run a business and accept use Payal for that (different account)

Once I posted something and only acquired  PROOF OF POSTAGE from Royal Mail.

Buyer stated they never received it.

Paypal told me Proof of postage not good enough - need tracking.

So now I spend a fortune in tracking.

I BOUGHT something recently. 2 things actually. Same seller, two different shops.

First package came with missing parts but Hermes tracking order.

Second parcel was coming via ROYAL MAIL seller stated - NEVER arrived.

After no replies from seller, opened case.

He supplied Paypal with the Hermes tracking order.

I showed them he was fraudulent.

Escalated.

Paypal emailed me and said seller had provided them with PROOF OF POSTAGE now, so settled in HIS favour !

Do what?

I am told proof of postage not good enough for me as a seller, but it is for him?

I am sure I read somewhere that Paypal insist upon tracking orders, didn't I?

Regardless, what do you think of these double standards?

Have filed a complaint with paypal.

One cannot appeal cases - decision is final - as printed.

Everything I wrote is gospel.

The seller only provided PROOF OF POSTAGE whereas I was told to always get proof of delivery -i.e. everything I sell has to be tracked.

But for this seller, PAYPAL have accepted proof of postage.

UNFAIR. One rule for one and another rule for others.

He is a big seller, so PAYPAL want to keep him happy and keep their fees coming in methinks.

HYPOCRITICAL, UNFAIR,

Am I correct that somewhere on the Paypal site it states sellers must use tracking if they expect protection?

U could appeal using this as fresh evidence? Its from ppal site

I don't have any tracking information. What can I do?

If you've sold something:

Without proof-of-delivery that can be tracked online, any claim of non-receipt is unlikely to be found in your favour. We advise looking into the delivery options that are available to you and consider making the cost of delivery with online tracking, mandatory for your customers.

If you've bought something:

If a Significantly Not as Described claim is decided in your favour, we may ask you to return the item to the seller to solve the claim. It's usually necessary for us to see online tracking to prove that the item was delivered to the correct person at the correct address.

https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security

This states for seller protection he should have provided tracking.

PAYPAL, YOU BREAK YOUR OWN RULES.

This seller gave you fraudulent HERMES tracking number when I have given you the email where he stated he was using Royal Mail and you have confirmed this because you have found in his favour as he has given you proof of POSTAGE.

Who is a crook?

QUOTE;

Buyer Protection

If an eligible item that you’ve bought online doesn’t arrive, or doesn’t match the seller’s description, our Buyer Protection will reimburse you for the full amount of the item plus postage and packaging costs. Buyer Protection covers all your online purchases, on eBay or on any other website, when you use PayPal.

Well that isRUBBISH isn't it.

Can I sue you now?

Thanks, facebook link didn't work for me. That could be my computer.

I will wait to see what comes from the complaint procedure.

It is not the money that is the point - only £30.

It is the fairness or lack of that grates upon my sense of justice.

That link worked thanks.

Never knew Payal was on Facebook.

Will wait and see what complaints procedure produces - have heard nothing from them yet.

If they do not respond I will be fuming.

Then all evidence will go onto Facebook and everyone can see double standards at play.

Very silly of them.

From their website:

We can protect you from checkout to delivery

When you pay with PayPal on any website, if your purchase doesn't arrive or match its description then we can help you get all your money back.

BUT THEY HAVE NOT PROTECTED ME HAVE THEY?

THEY SAY SELLER HAS PROOF OF POSTAGE. BIG DEAL.

IT WASN'T DELIVERED.

CAN I NOW STOP SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY ON TRACKING WHEN I SELL GOODS?

WILL YOU BACK ME UP IF AN ITEM IS NOT DELIVERED AS LONG AS I HAVE PROOF OF POSTAGE?

YOU DIDN'T IN THE PAST.

YOU SAID I HAD TO HAVE PROOF OF DELIVERY AND IT HAS COST ME A LOT OVER THE YEARS TRACKING ALL DELIVERIES.

Grrrrrrrrrr !
