Have had account in good standing since 2003 with only a MasterCard on file which has been sole source of payment for very few ebay purchases  (3 in last 18 months, $700-$1,500, never any problems).  Go to make $100 purchase today and told can't use MC, must add bank checking or savings account.  No explanation provided.  Sarah the auto attendant thinks I need to raise my limits which are $6,000 total, $500 per month (no purchases in the past few months), so that's not it.  Send email and get email back telling me to resolve by calling help center.  Help center tells me this is security measure due to amount of transaction and length of period of inactivity.  Since I had made $1,500 and $1,300 purchases after longer periods of inactivity previously, this too is bogus.  He tells me he can't override the system and I must wait 24 hrs for it to 'reset'.  What a load of BS.  It is widely known that PP is pushing users to provide links to liquid fund accounts so PP can save on credit card fees, and that's all this is.  They push their kool-aid about it adding extra layer of security, but anyone with better than a sixth grade education knows that going around handing out account #s more than necessary only increases risk, not security.  The MC on file has always worked on previous transactions and should still suffice.  They even say I'd be able to pay with MC once bank acct link established, so why do they really need bank acct?  I've read where their trolls have said its required to confirm funds are available, but I pay tens of thousands of dollars each year in air, hotel and travel expenses and they never ask for bank acct info.  PayPal has become greedy and intrusive.  I'll try again in 24 hr then make pymt thru other non-PayPal means if still not functioning.  Their luster is dimming quickly.
