Fraudalent charges/

I have 4 charges that I did not make.  They were all debited from my checking account.  My account did not have enough money to cover them, so I have been charged overdraft fees in addition to being charged for items I did not purchase.  I think someone created a phony e bay account in my name.  I do not know how they got into my paypal account to charge it there. I got a message about the purchase at a different e mail address than my paypal e mail address.  Pay pal is closed so I can't talk to a person.  Can they take money from my checking account without my authorization.  I never got any notification that the charge was being made. Don't they need my authorization.  I have not used my pay pal account very much, just occassionally.  Use it mostly to may payments for off line services I received, upon request.  So I don't know how this works. I could not get the resolution center to take my complaint, it kept sending me in circles. Any one ever have these problems?

Hi there, I've got the same problem.  Unauthorized ebay purchase, money directly directed from checking, checking goes overdraft, and overdraft fee assessed.  I didn't get any notification of my making the purchase or me sending money (I'm not happy about that with Paypal).  Here's what I've done -

1. Call your bank, ask if the bank is going to reverse the checking account money deduction because you do not have sufficient fund.

2. Ask your bank to put up a permanent block on any paypal money requests

3. Call paypal to put a hold on your account while this is being investigated

4. Have paypal open a case, get a case number

5. Change password right now to a very strong one

6. Ask your bank to waive your overdraft fee

7. Change passwords on other important internet accounts

In my case, the investigative case was opened and closed on the same day.  I should be getting a refund on Monday.  My bank account was credit-ed me back those money because account balance went negative.  They waived my assessed overdraft fee.  I'm waiting for the final clearance on my account, then will remove all monetary accounts linkage to paypal.  Good luck to you.
