Cant Remove Credit Card & Address Associated With It

My bank account is my primary payment source, I have 2 credit cards listed as backup funding sources...

I realized that one of the credit cards is no longer active, the expiration date on it has also passed and the address associated with it is no longer my address.

First I tried to remove the address by selecting "Edit/Add Address" but it said it was associated with a credit card on my account and it said to remove the credit card first.

So I tried to remove said credit card by selecting "Edit/Add Credit Card" but its saying it cannot be removed because its a backup funding source and there is an instant transfer pending.
THERE IS NO INSTANT TRANSFER PENDING - I haven't used my PayPal account in MONTHS.

I also switched the other credit card that I want to remain on my PayPal account to Primary thinking that would solve it. It didnt... HELP PLEASE!!! 😞

I don't have a solution, but I have exactly the same problem -- a "dead" credit card that can't be removed.

The same message:

You may not remove your back-up funding source while an instant transfer is still pending.

It's not a back up funding source nor is there any transfer pending.  PayPal obviously has some software snafu.

I am also having this problem. I found in a different thread that you have to contact them. I sent an email. You have to include the last 4 of the card and tell them that you authorize paypal to remove the card from you paypal account You can send them an email by clicking contact us at the bottom of any page. I sent mine this morning, awaiting a response 🙂 Hope this helps!

Thanks, matson!

As an additional item of information, when I emailed PayPal they asked me to phone them.  When I did that I discovered that a seller had placed a "hold" (or some such) on that card for a "pending payment".  That was last December (one year ago), but those never get cleared off if the merchant forgets to do so.

The PayPal rep took care of it in a few seconds.  However, it would seem reasonable for PayPal to "expire" those pendings after a certain number of weeks/months, etc.
