Hello
I recently purchased something off a website (not eBay) using PayPal checkout and entered my friends name and address for shipping upon paying. I'm worried that the buyer will see my name - it is unique enough to find my complete address on the UK electoral roll system. I'm weary because I've been a victim of identity theft and fraud and has taken years to recover from. So I would quite simply like to know, what information will the seller see? If the seller can still see my name/address even when shipping to someone else, what steps can I take to protect my own privacy?
Regards

If someone asks "what colour is the sky" - do you ask for more information? It is not kind to respond to a post when you have no relevant information or if you are incapable of reading the question properly. Your questionable etiquette aside, a PayPal customer service representative was able to answer my question, off the same information provided.

PayPal requires sellers to only ship items to a buyers registered name and adress on his/hers PayPal account. You can not ask sellers to ship to someone else. When you pay for goods, the seller will get the name and address and phone number that you registered when signing up with PayPal. At least if it is a goods payment and not just a payment for services.
So you are attempting to violate PayPal policy.
PayPal is all about security for both sellers and buyers. If you shopped from a serious Web Shop. They will most likely never abuse your personal information. PayPal is not about anonymity (with the exception of credit card and bank account data that the sellers will never see).

Why should I be forbidden to respond to posts?
I have the same right as everyone else to provide information I know.
You worded your post in such a way, that made me believe you wanted something shipped to a strangers address. But now you show me that screen shoot indicating you have more then one address registered.
If you have something shipped to either of those addresses then all is ok.
In this case I think only the address you select will be shown to the seller. Keep in mind that if you use a credit/debit card to fund the payment. Then that card must have the same billing address as the address you select in your account for the payment in question. I think you can have 2 accepted billing addresses for the same card tough.

We can only answer your query on the info provided.
So if you want advice its best to provide the full info and be grateful to someone trying to help you.
Its understandable you want your identity kept secret but odd that you are happy to use anothers address?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
