Free PayPal security key to PayPal Advantage members

Since we, PayPal Advantage members, statistically do more transactions than the average PayPal users, we should safeguard our account more than the average user. As a token of our use of PayPal and the amount of transactions that we do - we should get a PayPal security key free of charge. I think it will be a way better benefit for us than useless marketing offers that we currently are getting.

Hi Alexlitov,

We checked into the security key option for and getting the (physical card) key you are refering to is not feasible at this time. However, did you know that you can use your mobile phone as a security key? To get there, log into your account, go to PROFILE > MORE OPTIONS > SECURITY KEY GET STARTED > GET SECURITY KEY. From there you can select the mobile option (local sms charges will apply though).

Here is more information on how to get the mobile key: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_security-key

Also, here is a link to another Advantage member's post on the topic: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Share-Your-Buying-Tip/Added-level-of-security-when-buying/td-p/3...

Hope this helps!

Louis,

Thanks for getting back to me. It looks like PayPal doesn't care about keeping their top tier customers' interactions with the website secure, at least we'll be hydrated with the free water bottle that we just got.

At least create an application to generate the code similarly to what Google is doing with their secure login. Who wants to pay for international SMS fees when conducting business outside of the country?

I am curious on how the security key works.  Is it a number generator where when you are logging in to the paypal website, you need to press a button on the key and it provides a number that you need to enter into the website of paypal?

What happens if you lose the security key?  You are no longer able to log into paypal anymore?
