Having the app on the iPhone is nice for Paypal, but the company should also shoot for the future. With NFC coming in many phones lately, PayPal needs to wedge itself so that when the NFC from Phone is swiped, deduction is taken from a PayPal account. Also, PayPal needs to team up with Google, and allow PayPal as a purchase option on their shopping.google.com portal. I prefer Paypal over credit cards, I feel it is more secure, but with master card and visa teaming up to grab the mobile market, PayPal needs to be aggressive and put its services for those customers that want deduction from PayPal instead of credit card. I know this is about mobile version of PayPal, but I also have some other thing to add not related to the mobile version of PayPal: the desktop. For one, Steam (the game download service) and Battle.net (Blizzard's download service) NEEDS paypal! These are the two hottest online purchase areas where PayPal needs to be a payment option. Diablo, SC2 Heart of the Swarm, Steam games all require credit card purchases, and a lot of profit is missed when PayPal does not capture this market. Even consoles (like the PS3), needs a paypal payment option. I don't understand why PayPal is not aggressive enough in partnering with companies that sell a lot of stuff (many games). Games is and was the driving force for the PC community (even more so than Word and Excel). People upgraded their computer not to have better response to typing in Excel or Word, but to play the latest games. Consoles are in battle with them for games. Now iPhone and iPad are next in line in the battle, and the mobile version of Paypal needs to be in on this action or be left out. The games on iPhone and iPad are cheap, and Paypal usually handles these small transaction nicely. A partnership with Apple, Sony, and maybe Steam, Activition will do nicely for the millions of customers who prefer Paypal.
