Alliance and leicester account number is too long to transfer money to bank account

I'm trying to transfer my money from PayPal to my bank account but my account number from alliance and leicester is too long to fit in the box paypal provides, it askes for 8 digits but my account number is 9. Whats the problem?

Hi confused14,

Generally account numbers are only 8 digits long. May I suggest that you contact Alliance and Leicester to confirm that your bank account number is correct, it may be that your bank may have added an extra 0 at the start or end of the number.

Once you have the correct account number please log on to your PayPal account and click on the profile tab to add your bank account.

If your bank states that the account number is correct then I am afraid that you may not be able to use your bank account on PayPal as we only allow 8 digits.

Alliance & Leics account numbers are all 9 digits. But you'll find the last number of your sort code is in fact the first number of your account - so just add the remaining 8 digits as your account number
