compatabilities of country's in paypal??

Hi All!!

im just having issues with my account cause I've change country's and now I cant change my currency and banking details and I would like to keep my existing email address.   So basically is it possable to keep my email add and just change currency and banking details to the bank I'm currently using in South Africa!! or alternatively delete my previous account and start from beginning and still use my email add..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! BIG SMILEY FACE 😄

can anyone tell me i have changed my credit card details on my account but it says about putting the address in that is the same as the address on your statements well this card is rgistered in new zealand how can i get i to take off uk at the bottom of the address section

I created PayPal account when I was in UK. Now I have moved to Australia. How do I change the addess from UK address to Australia address. There is no option to select country. I NEED HELP VERY URGENTLY.

Hi there gsudipto,

When you move to another country, you need to close your old PayPal account and create a new account using your new address.

If you have addresses in both countries, you can keep your old PayPal account and create a new one, but only one of your accounts can be a Premier or Business account.

Here’s how to close your old PayPal account:

 - Go to www.paypal.co.uk and log in to your account.
 - Click ‘Profile’ near the top of the page.
 - Click ‘Close Account’ under ‘Account Information,’ and then click ‘Continue.’
 - Provide a reason for closing the account and any additional information, and click ‘Continue.’
 - Click ‘Continue,’ and then click ‘Close Account.’
 - After you close your account, any transactions that are in progress are canceled. We will send any remaining balance in your old PayPal account to your bank account. If you do not have a bank account on your PayPal account, we will post a cheque to the address on your account.

Here’s how to create a new PayPal account:

 - Go to www.paypal.co.uk
 - Click ‘Sign Up’ at the top of the page.
 - Select your country or region and your language.
 - Select the type of account you want to create, and then click ‘Get Started.’
 - Enter your information, and then click ‘Agree and Create Account.’
 - After you have confirmed your email address, you can use your new account

Thanks for your post on this but I am still having problems opening a second account.  

Dutch PayPal (where I have my original account) gives you the option to choose between:

1)  Buyers Account

2) Premier Account   

3) Business Account   

However, PayPal UK only gives the option of

1) Private Accountant 

2) Business Accountant

Could you explain why this is the case and  :

a) if I open a business account on the UK site, will I be charged for using it for puchasing only?

b) if I use my same emails address, whether I will have a problem opening my second account?

c) where I can sign up to a Premier Account on the UK site

Lastly, I think PayPal really needs to be a little more flexible with individuals who are located in two or more countries or at least not make the process of opening a second account quite as tedious as it appears to be, After all, it's quite common for individuals  to be located in many different places on a regular basis and there would not appear to be any real extra security afforded by  making sure customers'  countries on PayPal remain separated.   If I can add more than one credit card to a profile, why shouldn't I be allowed to add another country?

I wish to add a credit card to my account that was set up in United Kingdom with a debit card whose billing address is in UK.  The credit card I wish to add has a billing address in South Africa but there is no option on the add card page for anything other than a UK address.  How do I add this card with its SA billing address but with the same email address?

Welcome to the UK Community Forum!

Based on the information you provided in your post, you are trying to add a credit card with a South African billing address to your UK PayPal account. The reason you are only given the option of UK addresses on the Add Card page, is because it’s not possible to add a card with a billing address outside the UK to a UK PayPal account, I’m afraid.

If you spend time in both the UK and South Africa, you may wish to set up a South African PayPal account to make payments using the card with the South African billing address.

Hi Wayne,

I've moved to Australia too and would like to close my UK account.

However, my contact details are my old and innaccessible UK ones.

I would like to close my account without having to spend time and money calling the UK office up, which seems to be what is needed for the second option on that page.

is this at all possible?

Hey guys,

Luca333, if you wish to open a Business account you will not be penalised for not selling items. You would be better off opening a Premier account. When you go onto the PayPal UK site and click on Sign Up you are offered 2 options; ‘PayPal for your personal use’ and ‘PayPal for your business’. Choosing the first option opens a Premier Account.

In relation to your email address, it is not possible to add the same email address to more than one account so you would not be able to use the address registered to your Dutch account.

Lozmatic, if you no longer have access to your UK account or the email address registered to it then you would need to contact us by phone to close your account. I know it may be expensive to call our UK number from Australia so I would advise you to go to the PayPal Australia site and use the ‘Contact Us’ link there. That will bring up the Australian Customer Service number and they should be able to assist you.

This is exactly the same issue I am having, need to add Australian Bank Account Details but will only allow me to keep address as United Kingdom!

Please help
