Registering an AMEX card

I have an AMEX card issued by a bank - it has a 3-digit CVC code on the signature strip, rather than the 4-digit code on the front.

The old version of this card was registered as my primary card on PayPal, but I have now received a replacement card (because of the switch from Airmiles to Avios).

I don't remember having any problems registering the original card - but I can't register this replacement. The system insists I need a 4-digit CVC code, because it's an AMEX card!

Did the system / security change? Does anyone know if I can get this 3-digit CV AMEX registered?

cheers

Hi there DunaGooner,

There is a 3 digit security code on the back of credit/debit cards. The only four digit code that you would be asked for by PayPal would be the four digit verification code that would appear on your statement when there is a £1.00 GBP charge sent to your card.

When you are registering a new credit/debit card to your account, you can only enter the three digit code on the back of your card. You should not be asked for a four digit verification code.

I hope this helps,

David.

How are you even able to add AMEX? I'm trying to add mine but it only lets me choose from Visa, Mastercard and Discover.  I've never even heard of Discover...
