Can't change primary e-mail address

Hi,

 

I've added, and confirmed, a new e-mail address.   However, when I try to make the new address the primary...I get a message to say that it's been changed....but the old address remains as the primary.   I've seen several similar posts on the community, but never seen the issue fixed - support just say "we're having maintenance/technical issues and it'll work next time".

 

How can I change the primary successfully?
