I have received an email form someone who wants to buy my car,i wonder if anyone has any comments on it.

He is asking for me to request money through paypal using an email adress he has given me!!

I am just a little concerned that if i request the money, will he get any of my details that may compromise my account!!!!

this is a copy of the email:

i am willing to proceed with the transaction now. kindly login to your paypal account and select the request money button located at the top of your paypal account homepage and send the money request directly to my paypal account id which is so that i can submit payment to you via paypal right now as paypal is safe, fast and easy to send and receive money online.

I'll be responsible for the pick-up,my  movers pick up company will handle everything, they are international and i prefer them because they offer first class pick up that is not a problem  my mover's will schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your location, also all required documents will be signed by my pick up company on my behalf...all what you need to know will be done by my movers pick up company.

If you dont have a paypal account just logon to www.paypal.com and set up your paypal account, after setting up your paypal account you locate the request money button located at the top of your paypal account home page, use it to request money directly from my paypal account which is  once I receive your money request from paypal, I will submit payment to you immediately via paypal.

Get back asap.

THIS IS A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.

They encourage you to use paypal.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.

It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

If the item requires shipping they will tell you that they will pay you extra and you must pay the agent via western union / moneygram BEFORE the funds are released to you.

They are not interested in the item, they just want the western union etc funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

Also there is NO seller protection on paypal for motor vehicles.

thanks for the advice, but in using there email to request money, which i have done before for other transactions, surely i will only be dealing with paypal when the confirm or deny that i have been paid.

I want to proceed with the knowledge that in doing so in no way will my account be compromised.

I can deal with all the other flannel, but in future i want to be confident if i request or receive money???

many thanks anyway

You won't be dealing iwth paypal as you will send the request for payment and he will send you a FAKE email to say that you have been paid but its held until you pay his shipping agent.

So nothing will be done via paypals site apart from your request for funds that won't be paid.

Look its a scam, if you don't believe me thats fine, i don't have time to argue about it, most folks get it straight away.

YOU send the request for funds via paypal BUT that is as far as it goes.

He then sends you an email to say you have been paid but there are no funds in your paypal balance and the request HAS NOT been paid.

The email you get is a "spoof" that looks as if its from paypal but is not.

The rest of the scam is as above, can't explain it anymore clearly and can't be bothered to waste anymore time so do what you want to do.
