I've been getting a lot of sophisticated phishing emails purporting to be from Paypal. Should I close the account?

Well you can but i doubt it will stop the emails as they have nothing to do with paypal.

They are sent out by scammers to as many folks as possible who's email address that they have, and a large % of them I doubt even have a paypal account.
