Who else is having problems with PayPal holding their money while saying its done to help you?

Hi

I have recently joined PayPal and I would like to ask others have they had any problems with PayPal?

I recently had 390 dollars paid into the account and beyond belief Paypal informs me they will hold this money for 21 days in what we can only assume is their main paypal account. Their was no sight of such conditions when I opened the account and it feels insane and illogical.

The excuse given is that this is done to help me??????? Protect me if any problems with the transaction because my account is new???? Clearly the transaction is completed and this excuse rings totally untrue. Taking hold of my money is not helping me??????

I have warned Paypal in writing to cease holding money belonging to me without my consent. They have not even bothered to reply.

Obviously this is the first and last time that I will use Paypal and i'm simply not inclined to trust my money to middle agents who create odd rules in which they empower themselves to take hold of another persons money.

More disturbingly I read another person posting here in which PayPal took his money and will keep it for 180 days before returining it to him??? Will they return it along with the interest which the money generates???

Readong on the internet I am further very seriously concerned about what I am reading and wondering how true the things are being posted by thousands of people online???

Today when I signed in, from the same location as usual I was told Paypal are worried about my location??? Surly where I choose to sign in is entirly up to me??? I was then made to jump through hoops, accept a text code, sign in again and then forced to change my password from one I trust to a new password???

I think I need to do a lot of research about this oufit, who actually really owns them and where they get the right to hold money owned by other people who gave them trust to be forthright and honest? The enticement to join Paypal looked nice enough and now I sit here watching them hold my money """in order to help me????"""

Anybody here having the same problems with these characters?

New seller hold that every new seller on Ebay or using paypal goes through, as its for buyer protection and we need buyers most of us did not mind, you rarely wait 21 days if you send trackable, i rarely waited more than a week.

>>

Ebay holds.

https://ocsnext.ebay.co.uk/ocs/sr?query=1746

Paypal holds.

https://www.paypal.com/gb/selfhelp/article/why-are-my-payments-for-non-ebay-sales-pending-and-how-ca...

If someone is having their funds held for 180 days then it means that their paypal account has been limited as they have broken paypal rules etc. As a buyer can file a dispute up to 180 days (same as a credit card) then paypal holds their funds in case a buyer opens a dispute and they have to refund them.

If you sign in from another device or computer then for security reasons paypal will want verification that its you. Same as happens if i try to log in to my email provider from another device and have to get a code sent to my phone.

If you want to close your paypal account then click on the cog next to log out and under account options click on 'close your account'.

Hi

The excuses are interesting, Buyer protection? A person send money they owe to me and we go into a scenario called buyer protection and where does my money sit giving interest to guess who, yes Paypal of course.? Times this behaviour by thousands monthly it really is a free money gravy train.

Don't want to hear about EBAy I never use them.

If I dont like it close my account, thanks for the advice it smacks of bravado and I think my intentions are already very clear............................with 390 dollars being held in it, closing the account happens when I get my money out of it.

The person waiting 180 days broke their rules, interesting how these rules work one way.

Signing in, when you sign in with a password known only to yourself, no it does mean any problem and we all have a right to sign in from anywhere we choose. It does not mean that we jump through hoops with text messages and keep being forced to change our password or be denied access to an account with our money it in. This is behavioural mind training.  The more you give up your rights the more rights you lose and i think this current situation absolutely demonstrates this.

The question stands, how many people are going through this?

I don't need excuses as i have NOTHING whatsoever to do with paypal. I just post the facts as i see them and my own opinions as an Ebay seller of over 10 years.

If a person sent money they owed you and you are having the funds held for 21 days then that would be because the 'sender' sent using the wrong option.

If you are sending money for that reason then they should have chosen the 'friends/ family' option and you would have received the money instantly.

If they chose the 'goods/services' option then paypal would see you as a new seller and apply the new seller hold.

So it sounds as if instead of blaming paypal you blame the person that sent the money. You don't need to x that by thousands as most folks use the correct option.

HOWEVER if you were a seller and subject to the new seller hold then this is why. When someone pays us (as sellers) it is never instant from the buyers funding source, paypal CREDITS you the money and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer from the buyers funding source..........and guess what they don't charge YOU interest for the credited in advance funds.

That is why we have confused buyers on here saying their 'item' is on the way but the funds have not left their bank account yet !!!!

If a buyer opens a dispute and you have taken those credited funds and run, then paypal has to pay the buyer back out of their own funds under buyer protection, so to stop that happening for NEW sellers until they have built up a bit of a selling reputation paypal stops them taking those funds until the buyer has had time to receive the item and be happy with it. Funds are released normally when a tracking number shows delivery of the item plus a few days. Its only 21 days if you have not provided tracking or sold a virtual item.

Every single seller on Ebay and elsewhere using paypal have gone through this process but we only get a 'few' moaners every now and then that don't understand it.

You agreed to paypal rules when you opened your paypal account.

Its not rocket science, if you don't agree with them then close your account OR could it be you don't want to as paypal enable you to make or transfer money easily.

Think what you want, I can only give you the facts and your original post was full of in accuracies. Yes paypal has a lot of faults but I will defend them when YOU are posting the wrong info.

Post again if you like but i am not going to waste anymore time on this trivia...........bye.

Hi

Thanks for putting a lot of time into explaining your point of view and your love of how through E bay the system works for you.

Clearly you have not fallen foul of some bizarre excuse to take hold of money which belongs to you and when it happens you will probably be very surprised.

You quote rules which are "made up babble", and nothing to do with genuine protection, made up for the very purpose of which countless examples are evident through thousands of people, not a few like you try to suggest.

I take on board your viewpoints, however I live in reality, no matter who transfers money to me and regardless of their purpose, I do not accept a middle agent taking hold of the money under a broad swath of nonsensical excuses which I'm currently finding written by countless people whom are forming website communities to take group legal actions on the WWW.

Of course their are lots of people that have not YET encountered problems, the system is selective but it has some very serious future surprises coming.

Now let's end our opinions and please do enjoy your time with E bay.
