I'm sorry to hear what has happened recently through your Messenger account. Can I ask if your friend had contacted you to ask you to send a payment to them via PayPal?
If this happened and you sent the payment to your friend, we may not be able to reverse the transaction if this is reviewed by our fraud department. PayPal can only process a refund in cases where your PayPal account is compromised.
I realise that your friends Messenger account may have been compromised and this person reached out to you; but this would not be considered an unauthorised payment from PayPal's perspective as you (the account holder) would have initiated the payment.
