Paypal shipping label significantly higher than eBay calculated shipping

I just sold something on eBay using the calculated method where I enter the package dimensions and weight into eBay. I selected UPS Ground as the shipping method. The buyer was only charged ~$20 for shipping through eBay, but when I go to purchase the label its ~$35! I $15 difference!

I called eBay and the support rep said that I would only be charged the $20 and that eBay and Paypal would invoice the buyer the difference. That sounds 100% wrong.

I am going to buy the label soon and ship it rather than make the buyer wait for a resolution, but will I be able to get eBay or Paypal to credit me the difference?

And before anyone asks, everything was carried over from Ebay as it was entered there as far as weight and dimensions, I didn't change anything.

I had to call eBay support a couple times, but I was able to get them to credit my seller's account balance for the shipping descrepancy. Seems like there might be an issue with how eBay calculates shipping fees...

I've just gotten hit by this same thing.  Both PayPal and eBay customer support recommended I wait 6 days to ship my item so the UPS discount would kick in.  They said my buyers probably wouldn't mind.  As a until-just-recently eBay employee, that's totally a bad buyer experience.

Anyway.  How hard was it to get a refund for the shipping overages and who did you talk to for that?

I just got boned by the same thing.  "Print labels through us, it's easy and cheap".  Never again.  Every time I've tried to sell something through eBay it's a hassle.  Not worth my time.

On April 1, I listed a Hickok tube tester on ebay. I plugged in the estimated weight and dimensions for shipping via UPS Ground, and the buyer eventually paid $25.
When I went to buy the shipping label on PayPal yesterday, I plugged in the actual dimensions, which was 1 inch more in width, and the actual weight, which was 1 pound less, as well as the buyer's zip code. The shipping cost for UPS Ground had somehow risen to $31. I then rechecked the actual dimensions and weight yesterday by plugging them and the buyer's zip code into ebay's shipping calculator, which quoted a price of $26 for UPS Ground.
Why are all these figures different? Shouldn't they be the same?

Of course, ebay and paypal customer service were of no help whatsoever. I could almost hear them shrugging their shoulders and thinking, 'What do you want us to do about it?' I mean, where is the accountability? This smacks of dishonesty or at least incompetence, and I think ebay and paypal should be ashamed.
