PayPal stopped working on Ebay - gives error message

I've been using my PayPal account on Ebay for 2 years, and frequently for the last 3 months with no problems. For the last 2 days, when I try to pay for an item that I won on Ebay I get the error message: "Unfortunately, the funding source within your PayPal account was declined."   I have plenty of money in my debit account, it is not expired. I've been on the PayPal website and can't find any answers. the automated computer helper is useless. I have a $500 safety limit per month, but I've only used about half of it so far.

Dee9 & Hasben-

Sorry to hear about the difficulties you had making your payments, but I'm glad that you came here for answers. 🙂

We had an issue for a couple of days when trying to pay via debit card; this issue caused the declines you experienced as well as the error message.  We have since fixed the issue, so I would recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies and giving it another go.  If you have any more problems after that, let us know so we can get it looked at further.

Hello. This is the first time this has happened to me? I was able to pay for other items fine, but today I got this message while nothing is wrong with my debit card.

I am getting the same message. My debit card is new and has enough money in it to pay for the 10.98 item, but it is giving me this same message:

Unfortunately, the funding source within your PayPal account was declined.

Is there any way to fix this? I don't know what to do about it.

I'm having this problem right now. And I do believe the problem has not been fixed.

Is it due to the balance being zero and still trying to use a debit card to pay?

I'm thinking of eigther buying a MoneyPack or adding more founds to my card...

What should I choose to do?

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay in responding to you.

As far as the issue that was happening over that brief period of time, that was a PayPal thing that was fixed.  So if you're seeing that message now, what you'll want to do is contact your card issuer and make sure there aren't any issues on their end.  A generic decline by them (possibly for insufficient funds, or something else from their side) will create the same error message.  But as the issue we had was solved, anything now you would want to make sure your bank isn't causing first.

Best of luck!

Andy
