Changing your primary email address

My current primary email address is no longer valid and so I am trying to update this info in my profile.  I can see I am able to add additional emails which I have done (up to three one - my old one which is no longer valide and two others), but I see no option on my old primary email address to remove it.  I can update/remove the two I have added, but cannot find a way to remove my current primary which again, is no longer valid.   I have looked through the communities, but see nothing that explains this.

When you add a new email address, there's an option to make it the Primary.

Login to your account.

* Click on the Gear icon.
* Click on the + in the address box.
* Enter your new address.
* Check "Make this my primary address"
* Click "Add Address"

Once you add a new email address to your PayPal account, you need to confirm it. Click Update next to the newly added email and then click Confirm this email.

Thank you Quandary for the quick response, but that process did not work for me.  No where when I set up a new address was there a section to make this email my primary.  I confirmed this by deleting and re-adding and confirming the same email address.  What I did find any messing with it a bit longer was after the new email address is added and confirmed I could go to that email address from my list of email address and click "Update".  Once I did this there was a box that said "Make this email address my primary".  So I did this and then deleted my old one. sdf

This is how I suceeded in changing my primary email address. 

LOG IN, GO TO SETTINGS (CRANK ICON NEXT TO LOG OUT, UPPER RIGHT CORNER), GO TO PRFILE, BELOW IS HOW THE EMAIL SECTION WILL LOOK (DATE 11/08/2017 updates to PayPal may change this screen).  CLICK "UPDATE/REMOVE" ON SECONDARY EMAIL, THE NEXT SCREEN WILL LOOK LIKE THE UPDATE YOU EMAIL SECTION BELOW.  CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS, "MAKE THIS MY PRIMARY EMAIL FOR RECEIVING NOTIFICATIONS.  CLICK THE BLUE "CHANGE EMAIL" ICON.  THE SYSTEM WILL CHANGE THE SETTING AND SEND YOU BACK TO YOUR PROFILE SCREEN.  NOW YOU WILL SEE YOUR OLD PRIMARY EMAIL IN THE SECONDARY EMAIL SECTION.  TO REMOVE IT, SIMPLY CLICK "REMOVE".  DONE!!!!!! TADA!!!  I HOPE THIS HELPS.  REMEMBER WITH PAYPAL SYSTEM UPDATE THIS MAY CHANGE OVER TIME.

The next screen after you click "UPDATE/REMOVE"

UPDATE YOUR EMAIL

BOX:  Your secondary email, the one you want as your new "PRIMARY" email should be here.

Small BOX:  Make this my primary email for receiving notifications (CHECK THIS BOX)

BLUE "CHANGE EMAIL" ICON: Click this and you'll be done

The system should take you back to your "Profile" screen.

Click "REMOVE"  on the one you wish to remove
