Removing old shipping addresses still impossible

When I pay for something using Paypal checkout, it promps me to login, then lists a number of mailing addresses (including the default!) that haven't been used by me in quite some time (8+ years in some cases). These addresses aren't listed in either my eBay or my PayPal profiles, so how do I delete them?

They are probably old gift addresses and the only way to get rid of them is to phone customer services and they will delete them for you.
Advice is voluntary.

Not in my case. We were active duty Air Force and have moved a lot... the addresses I have are OLD addresses where we were stationed. We didn't have family or friends that we gifted anything to in several of those addresses.
Come on Paypal, get with it and let us remove those old addresses. If they're not stored in our account somewhere, why the heck are they showing up at all???

I also got a phone call from someone who was completely confused as to how this could be possible. I don't know if she did something on her end, or if the recent change in the 'checkout' pages made the problem go away, but the issue is resolved for me. The woman on the phone did confirm that at least one of the ghost addresses I was seeing was used as a 'gift' address, but there's no way for users to modify those themselves, looks like.
TL;DR version: contact the normal customer support, when you get an email telling you to check the FAQ, respond to that email with your issue again, and it'll get fixed.

If not, could you please do so. I'd love for the person who knows how
to solve this issue see the list of folks interested having this
issue resolved, but have not yet resorted to filing a ticket.

Yep, I submitted both a picture of what I was seeing on my screen (useless here of course since I don't want to post my addresses publicly) and a link to this thread to both the Merchant desk that I was originally directed to, and the normal support desk that I was redirected to.

I'm getting the run around, canned responses from "Kyle", but he's talking about the addresses in my profile, not the prior shipping addresses.
