Credit card vs. bank account as primary method of payment for purchases?

Hi,

I mostly use PayPal to make purchases rather than receive payments from others (although that happens on occassion as well). Currently, PayPal defaults to my bank account whenever I make a purchase. I would like it to default to my credit card, and only use the bank account on the rare occasion I receive payments. How do I do that?

Thank you!

A newbie on here, and have just popped off a note to PayPal regarding future EBay use/purchases as I want to pay by credit card.  Having a positive balance negates this opportunity!

This is my note to them . . .

"I invariably have a PayPal balance, but I often prefer to pay by credit card . . . which my balance negates.

My apologies, but until payment by credit card is more easily available - we get cash rewards - we shall resort to Amazon for most if not all future purchases.

We did this last night for 5 items that were available on both EBay and Amazon sites.  In fact Amazon was less expensive because some items were 'Prime eligible', i.e. free shipping.

We've enjoyed EBay over the years, and want to let you know the direction we, and probably others, are heading with our online purchases."

If we all took this view, they'd change the 'rules' for sure . . . but it'll probaly take a few years to sink in, and by then we'll be more comfortable with Amazon.

I'd like to use both, but from hereon methinks not!

Hello...

I haven't used PayPal for a while and wanted to create a new account, change and update my credit card info, email address, etc.

PayPal won't let me establish a new account WITHOUT my banking information. I don't feel comfortable with this. I will never use my checking or savings account as a payment method. I submitted my credit card data and designated that as my primary method of payment. This could be a deal breaker and just might be "adios PayPal".  Do I have any options ?
