suing Paypal

I cancelled an airline ticket within 24 hours and received a refund from the airline back to my PayPal balance. PayPal showed the refund as completed. But it still has not been applied to my balance. (It was an instant transfer from my bank account and so should go back to my balance.) That was two weeks ago. I've called, emailed, tweeted, and facebooked them to find out where they missing money is. On the phone, PayPal acknowledged that the money was missing due to a technical issue. They said they had no timeframe for fixing it and I would only be updated by email once the situation was fixed. That is totally unacceptable. They can't just hold my money hostage with no explanation. I've since discovered there are a number of other customers who have this problem. Does anyone have experience gathering other customers with a similar technical problems to approach suing PayPal?

I'm so grateful that someone like you can peruse the message boards and offer polite and kind quips to those of us reaching out for help. My first thought was, "What an odd response. Surely this person must understand what "hold my money hostage" actually means. Then I thought, "Well, hold on. Perhaps this person struggles to understand human emotions, hyperbole, a turn of phrase, or is simply unable to read the question thoroughly. Perhaps this person is having a bad day, has low self-esteem, and his or her only respite is to leave nasty responses to questions." I hope you can bounce back from whatever it is you're going through. And thank you for alerting me to the fact that the only way to be helpful in this community is to actually drive over to PayPal and fix something yourself. I was operating under the mistaken notion that I could ask a question and hear from other people in my similar situation. I'm sure you will no doubt respond again with something equally as nasty, so I think I will pursue another avenue to find the missing money.

Don't think they are 'holding it hostage', they are trying to 'fix' a techie glitch.

Thanks for being so helpful with your comment.  It can be very stressful paying for rent and medical bills when large sums of money go missing and I'm glad I turned to knowledgable individuals such as yourself in the community for help.  Hope you have a good rest of the day and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Yes it must be very stressful and its a real nuisance but they are still not holding your funds hostage.

And no one can be 'helpful' unless we drive over to Paypal and fix the glitch for you.

Yep with my nearly 10,000 kudos / solutions from folks that I have helped I certainly peruse the message boards to save folks from being scammed etc.

And yes I know what 'held money hostage means' and that is why I stated that it was an inaccurate statement as paypal are not holding it hostage they are 'trying' to fix a techie glitch.

I give up my time on here to help many, many folk per day but sometimes only customer services can help.

In your situation as its a Paypal techie glitch then no, no-one on here can help you, unless they 'drive' over to Paypal and are I.T specialists.

That does not mean that others that ask questions on here can't be helped, just not you........this time.

Feel free to explore other options OR just wait till Paypal fix the glitch.

Sorry you thought marking the thread as 'solved' meant I could not add a comment to that thread.
