What should i do to get my payment back?

I called paypal but they said they cannot put dispute because the seller has transmitted money as if I am sending it to friends and family.

@mzleena, did you open a dispute case on the transaction and that is what PayPal told you also?  That it was a personal payment?  Did you fund the payment with credit card?  I suggest you file a charge back if you did.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

If you sent payment as Friends and Family option, it is same as sending cash.  There are no refunds from PayPal for this.  Do not fall for sellers who tell you to send payment as Friends & Family if that is the case, because they got scammed before.  They are avoiding fees.  If they have been scammed, it is the cost of doing business online and they should take steps in managing risk that do not violate protection for the buyer. PayPal has buyer protection but if you do not follow the conditions, you render those protections useless.

How did you send payment?  Was it through Send & Request from the menu of your PayPal account?  Did you checkout through PayPal checkout flow ?  Did you log in to PayPal during checkout?  Did you fund your payment with your credit card?  You can file a dispute with your card issuer.

People should also research the sites from which they buy from too.  Look for their About Us page, their t&c's first and not get taken in by the too good to be true deals.  On the Internet, you do not know who is on the other end.  PayPal can only do so much.  You are your own last line of defense.

I orderd a laptop day after Thanksgiving from them but issued a credit card for payment.  Received email that my order had been placed etc.  Never hearing when it would be shipped, logged on to their site and said my order was incomplete due to payment.  Had a box to reorder but my better sense told me DON'T.  I wrote them an email twice to explain why it showed no payment and was never answered.  Today, I logged on and they had their chat so that is what I did.  I was immediately told that they were unable to process my credit card and did I have a Paypal account.  Being I had read your comment, I declined and requested my order to be cancelled for they wouldn't answer why my credit card wouldn't be payment.  So, I think they must know the Paypal policy of returns, etc. and are scamming.  Paypal needs to do something about this.  However, my credit card protects me from fraudulent charges.  Can you not call them and have them take care of this.  Or did you do it by a bank account?  If you did that, don't do that again ever.  Use a credit card where you have protection.  This site needs to be shut down regardless.  Sorry for your loss.

Good information.  Now if only buyers would be so careful as you were.  Unfortunately many buyers don't use your good judgement.

Such selling sites exist in part because buyers get hookd by deals too good to be true. These sites are outside the jurisdiction of PayPal except that PayPal could close their account, but it's automatic risk assessment that would need to do it.  PayPal does have polcies in place to protect buyers, but buyers need to follow the policies very carefully; unffortunately buyers get excited about the "too good to be true" deals and overlook PayPal policies.  It's not PayPal's responsibility when buyers use poor judgement for purchase decisions.

As you did, credit cards are better for purchases.   Again, a good judgement decision.

If Paypal gets information that paypal users are getting scammed from a certain website then why don't they work on shutting down this website? Looks like they got complaints about this website 3 weeks before I purchased my two laptops but they didtnt do anything about it. The website is still currently up.

good word of wisdom!

But as a buyer I saw that seller accepts payment throgh paypal so I made a trust and paid money.

What is the role of paypal here you think? just to give money to literally "ANYONE" in the world, no matter how that "ANYONE" is??
