I'm a Canadian with a Paypal account up here in Canada, and I've also noticed that Apple install drop down. I've always refused to install it.
As far as running scans, I run Microsoft Security Essentials with up-dated signature files, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with up-dated files, Super Anti-spyware free edtion with updated files, and Spybot Search and Destroy with up-dated files and have found nothing on my system.
Not sure why I'm getting this drop down asking me if I want to install Apple when I log into my Paypal account.
Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8 all updated.
When accessing my account on my Eee PC netbook computer running Leeenux Linux, I don't get that drop down Apple install thing at all. It just comes up on my desk top computer running Windows XP.
Let's hope that Paypal can figure this out.

Great..... I uninstall Apple Quick Time and don't get the Apple drop down install thing now when I log into my Paypal account.
Instead... now I get "This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Windows Media Player Extension' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here..."
What the heck ? ? ?
Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8 with all updates, Microsoft Security Essentials, Super Anti-spyware Free Edition, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spybot Search and Destroy, all with the latest signiture files and run. No virus or malware found.
Can Paypal figure out what the **bleep** is going on here? ?

'Windows Media Player is another program i do NOT allow to startup on my computer as i never use it
but your right paypal should know whats going on here, wether these programs have need to run within
there invironment?
you can go to "run"msconfig & stop these players from loading on start up they are NOT needed within paypal.

i have the same problem using firefox. i press the apple X button and then i go in my paypal. but if it is a spy virus even press the X is dangerous (maybe the X button is like press yes for them) but i think going into my paypal with this on my screen could be dangerous. i try sign out and come back but apple bar is always there...paypal should ask apple if it is from them ???

Simplest & most obvious answer would be it was in most recent update/s,as i said in my posts I do not use MS or Quicktime players & do not allow them to load on startup, would mean that all 3 companies Apple,MS&Paypal new/know that it was/is there.
hope that helps

Let me also add that this is a THREAT & should not be asking ANYBODY to be "DOWNLOADING "within your inviroment
VIRUSES do that,You as paypal should be aware of this & are not, therefore I have no other option other then too close my account because of security concerns?

I am also getting the request "This webpage wants to run the following add-on: 'Quick Time' from 'Apple Inc.'."
Perhaps cyber-criminals are infiltrating paypals website?
I have 2 internet security and antivirus protection software on my computer.
This just started happening to me today, 23-may-2012.
What can we do to protect our accounts?
