Suspected fraudulent payment

I was doing a work at home job and this person paid me through PayPal and I transferred the money ($1,800) from my PayPal account into my bank account. Now I’m worried, because I think this person is a scammer. From the money they sent, they want me to use some of it to purchase iTunes cards and then wire them the rest and keep only $300 of the money. Since I’m now sure they are scamming me, I’m thinking the money they sent me may have even been from a stolen account. How do I report this, and what do I do? I don’t want to keep someone else’s money but also don’t want to refund it to the scammer either. I don’t want to get into trouble, but I also want to do the right thing. What should I do?

Hi @Robin52768

I can certainly understand your concern. From what you've described, it sounds like it's too good to be true. This situation sounds like a common scam that we've seen before. It's best to issue a refund of the payment to avoid the possibility of a claim being filed against the payment. You can also give us a call to look into the payment.

I hope this information helps!

Thanks,
