My PC hacked, teamviewer, Theft!

I posted this to another thread yesterday and got no replies so I started a new one in hopes that a mod will see it.

This is a KNOWN issue and has happened to many others. I can post many links to web sites where this issue is discussed.

I have been back and forth with the sellers and paypal for over a week. I recently found out that my PC WAS hacked through teamviewer after filing a claimn and getting it denied.  Finally one of the people from the fraud dept. told me that transactions were done from my work PC. So then I thought of teamviewer which I use to access my office computer. I did check out the logs and found that someone did indeed get on my system on May 27 about 6am and bought some gift cards with an IP address from California. I had already filed a claim and they denied it due to my IP Address BUT now I have the explanation and log files to prove it. I did appeal the claim and explained what happened. I have yet to receive a reply from the claimappeal email. I will contact them again and hopefully someone from Paypal will see this and help. I am out over $400 and very upset!

Who do I need to contact to get this resolved. Do I call in again (for the umpteenth time)  and explain my situation or is there someone here on this forum. Needless to say I am very frustrate at the lack of response.

PayPal_Michael are you there?

No one answers specific account issues on here, you need to contact customer services.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I have already contacted customer service, started a claim on 5 transactions, ALL got denied due to the IP address being my own. The problem is I did not know or realize that at the time. NOW, I do know what happened and have all the logs and browser history to prove it. I emailed their claimappeal without any reply yet. It's been a week. I called yesterday to ask about it and the lady told me to email again. Still no reply. I am also working on the seller end a bit. Some of the purchases were from walmart.com for gift cards to the tune of $300. 3x$100 each. Well the walmart transactions were cancelled automatically due to a fraud detection BUT they still took money from bank. So I've been dealing with their terrible customer service as well. I did finally email them and got a response that they are working on it. That was last night. I'm waiting to see how it goes. I will give it another day and call PP fraud dept to explain the teamviwer hack. I posted here in hopes that someone had already gone through this and could give me some advice.

Did you actually talk to someone at PayPal customer service?

I've been calling them since June 9. The fraud was done on May 27. I've asked for customer service and got transferred to Fraud dept. This has happened multiple times. Am I missing something? Is there a special way or number I should call?

That's how I get in. All you have to do is ignore the prompts and say "customer service" at least a couple of times and you will get right in. Talking to someone has NOT been my problem, getting help IS the problem. Naturally when they see the transactions in question were done from my PC than they assume they were valid but they are not! Not in this case..

I searched google for "teamviewer paypal hack" and got 122k hits. There is a lot happening right now and the story is still developing.

This page summarizes pretty well what is happening.

OK, it seems that they have reversed their decision and are returning my money. The email to claimappeal finally got noticed. For anyone else going through this I would suggest emailing them with all of the evidence you can gather. There are some online sources on how to analyze your teamviewer logs. If for some reason you have already uninstalled TeamViewer (I don't blame you), and you no longer have the logs, the company does also keep logs as to who logs in where. If the transactions were done through a browser then check the history for the dates in question. There is a free tool you can download to do this. In my case there were no emails alerting me of these transactions because the hacker actually got on my outlook and permanently deleted those messages (I did not realize this until later). Luckily I am pretty tech savvy and was able to find the traces. Some hackers go out of their way to cover their tracks.

I'm in the same position at the moment, my computer got remotely controlled ( not with team viewer but something else I don't know what ) and someone stole for about 2000$ from me. Now my account balance is negative and paypal won't refund me...

I wiped my drive because I thought I had a virus or something, what should I do now?
