Collection Scam

I have two collection agency sending me letters about an alledge PayPal debt of $300.00. IC System from Minnesota and ACI out of Boerne, Texas. I have never used my PayPal account except when it is hooked to my bank account. I tried to email PayPla and they sent me a lengthy email of dispute resolution all of which want a date of purchase and the invoice from them. But they never sent me one and according to their website I owe nothing. You would think they would want to take care of this rater than making their customers jump through hoops.

Yeah, I got a scam letter from ACI of boerne, TX just a week or two ago. The letter says I owe them 79.69 cents. BS.

I never use credit.

I wouldn't buy anything unless I had the money in the bank.

I suggest that if you haven't yet, read the whole thread and respond with a Certified Return Receipt response to their claim.

Its certainly better then getting a ding on your credit.

Hey all,

I just had this happen to me as well. I called the ACI number and told them that I knew this wasnt true and wasnt my account since I had already contacted PayPal and they tried to tell me that they were given the debt account in an email that I couldnt see. I asked what the email was and it was a random bunch of numbers and letters that was obviously not my email. The guy on the phone said that he thought it was identity theft and would send it back to PayPal. I dont believe it, I think it is more that he was caught and didnt know what to do. I will be forwarding the letter to PayPal, but I would suggest trying to call them and have them "send it back to PayPal". I will keep you all posted about how it goes.

Write to Paypal and demand that they remove the "Inquiry" and explain that its a fraudulent inquiry.

Do it in writing certified return receipt.

Add my name to this long list of victims.  My letter says I owe $88.  Paypal fraud services says they're looking into this situation but I see it's been going on for a year now so clearly this is moving slowly.  It may be worth it to just pay the money and avoid the credit issues.  Any new advice?

I just received a letter from American Coradius International LLC, saying that I've been placed for collection with their office, regarding my PayPal Credit Account, owing them $1,276.85.

I have not used PayPal for a year, where I certainly did not spend more than $20.

From reading these posts, I am going to try to call PayPal first since their name is tied to this letter; hopefully they offer some resolution to this matter ( confirming that its a scam possibly?). If I get nowhere I'm planning on responding to this "Collection Agency" saying that this so called account is not valid.

Not sure if anyone else has any other suggestions?

I tried calling PayPal but they were basically useless about it. What i did was called the number on the letter I go and told them that I knew it was a scam and to take my name off and stop sending me anything and they said they didnt know what I was talking about but that they would send the "collection" back to PayPal.. Since there was no actual collection I havent heard from them or PayPal again, so that seemed to work. Maybe try calling them?

What doesn't make sense is my minimum payment is $151 And my outstanding balance is $283 So it's not like it's some outrageous amount And they swear they call before its sent over well I never got a call or email or anything
