I’ve been selling misc stuff on eBay for 20+ years. I haven’t had too many problems over the years—a few scams here and there, but I’m extra cautious And I know the policies. The email I just received from PayPal really irritates me. I’m september, Someone purchased something from me, I shipped it and it was delivered with no problems. No issue through eBay. Then I receive a message from PayPal that the funds have been put on hold pending a chargeback for an unauthorized purchase. I know I’m covered under seller protection. The user id, PayPal address and the eBay address I shipped to match. PayPal claims someone named “<removed>” placed the order but nowhere on my sale is that name. I figure I’m ok—besides the fact that they get to hold the money while the company investigates. I get a message from PayPal after they’ve held the money for a month that the case was decided in my favor and they release the funds. Then today, another couple weeks later, I get a message that the financial institution decided the case in the buyers favor-which now with the new chip technology, they will automatically do unless the card is physically present at the purchase. What irks me is PayPal’s response—that “because I’m such a good customer, they will not debit my account”. Like they are doing me a favor. Seriously?? I followed all your rules. How about just stating that because I followed the rules, the transaction is covered under seller protection. It was purchased with the buyers account and shipped to the buyers address!!! There is nothing I could do differently in this scenario!!! Afraid this may happen more and more in the future!!!
