Think I've been ripped of but saved at the same time.... help

To sum it all up without giving you my life story: a mate thought they were logged into their paypal and stupidly brought pepper spray from america, its illigal to ship out of america and also illigal over here, seller rightly so has not shipped the item. In their defence they genuinley did not know pepper spray is not prohibited here or to send from the us.

I started a dispute to ask for my money back as he obviously cannot send this by law, simple I though. Seller said he cannot until I close dispute so I did, seller has not refunded.

Started a unauthorised transaction to see if I'm eligible under that to claim my money back.

Where do I stand as the seller could not ship this even if he wanted to as its not legal to send?

Been with paypal years and never a problem until this :(........ guess either way I'm lucky the seller could not send as it would be ceased and a fine issued or worse. Guess either way I'm lucky but I would like my money back.

Paypal have found in my favour and refund is pending. Well happy, Paypal is the way forward 🙂
