Hello all,
I just had a quick question yesterday I encountered a scam email while attempting to sell an item on craigslist. I've heard about the commonness of scammers from Nigeria which was apparently (according to google) where my scammer was from! Anyways, my question is, if this person only has my email am I safe? I ended up changing my paypal account email since it was connected to the email the person was contacting me on just to be extra cautious.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to the Community!
Yes, you should be safe, assuming you haven't clicked on any links provided to you by the scammer. If you had chosen not to switch out your email address, you would remain safe as long as you haven't provided them any of your financial information. If you wanted to go the ultimate extra step, you can do a full virus scan with updated definitions, but you should be ok.
Thanks!
Adrian

I just signed up for paypal recently and I think someone is trying to scam me. I am trying to sell an ATV and I received an offer from an oceanographer (found another post about him) that wanted me to set up a paypal account and I did.
I just received an e mail from him saying he paid me, but it does not show here yet. I am 99% sure it is a scam, but is there someone that I can forward his e mail to so they can inform me this is how paypal works?

If this individual has paid you, then you'll see the payment in your Available or Pending balance after logging into https://www.paypal.com. No balance? No payment.
If you've received a fake or potentially fraudulent email, it can be forwarded to our fraud teams at spoof@paypal.com.

Thanks!
