Need some information about Purchase protection - Item not received

Hello, I contacted a seller on ebay and he sent an invoice through PayPal few days back. I made the patment but  did not receive the item and opened a dispute on PayPal, the status now is "Awaiting other party's response". Will I get refund for sure if the seller did not respond within 10 days?

I am worried that the purchase was made outside of ebay. If I get refund for sure I no logner need to wait for the refund to but it again.

If and only if you met ALL the requirements of buyer protection then yes you should get a refund.

But I would wait before that refund goes through before you buy something else as it may take a while to process back to your funding source.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I baught an iPad and made single payment using the puchase tab shown beside the invoice. I made a dispute 5 days after the payment. Do I meet all the requirements for buyer protection?

Thanks

I am not sure but I am hopeful for you.  I just got my claim denied, though so who knows.

I also contacted an eBay seller about custom measurements for an item (that they say you can order custom on the auction, so nothing special) and he sent me a PayPal invoice (not through eBay) and I paid it, thinking I was covered.

I wasn't.  The item was sent to the wrong specs and the seller did not offer a refund, only a partial - since the item is useless to me I wanted a full refund.  The claim was denied so I get nothing, apparently.

PayPal won't cover "custom" items even when the seller is abusing eBay policy and completing transactions via PayPal that they arranged through eBay auctions and messaging.  Since there is no eBay transaction, eBay won't cover it either of course even though their site was used for fraud.

Luckily it wasn't a very expensive item but it was enough for me to post here.  🙂

I would think "item not received" is covered since I just read the user agreement 14 times.  You should report the seller, regardless, for violating eBay's policy of completing transactions outside of eBay.
