Help with fraud against seller

I've been a loyal PayPal member for 10+ years and have never dealt with a fraudulent claim. I recently sold some automotive suspension items which were advertised properly and in perfect working order (with witnesses that can attest to them including the mechanic who removed it from my car). The buyer called me claiming the suspension was defective and I did everything I could to explain to him that his mechanic was making a mistake. I even went as far as having a certified Mercedes technician call his to explain what may have been wrong . The buyers MECHANIC openly admitted he didn’t know what he was doing to the Mercedes technician. The buyer then damaged my parts and sent them back to me poorly packaged. I had a feeling he was trying to commit fraud before even shipping the items back and called PayPal to note that I thought this was going to happen. My suspicion was correct and sure enough what I expected happened. PayPal immediately sided with him (even without me submitting photos of how he returned my items) and took the money from my account.

The PayPal supervisor I spoke to today promised me an email with proper procedure for appeal and then hung up with me and almost immediately after PayPal issued the buyer credit.

If anything I feel very let down as a longtime customer.

What can I do?

Not a lot to be honest.

In the event of an item received but not as described dispute it is often one persons word against anothers.

So paypal tend to find in favour of the buyer BUT the buyer has to return the item back to you trackable (to prove delivery) before  you have to refund them.

so whats to stop me from buying items on ebay or online and stuffing the

boxes with the right weight and sending them back. How can paypal charge us all

these fees and then back the buyer ONLY?

I can only tell you what tends to happen.

I don't make their policies.
