Fighting an escalating dispute

Hello there!  I am coming to the paypal community today asking for advice in fighting an online payment.

STORY:

So i was working for this guy and he wanted some programming done for him.  I signed a contract 3  weeks ago saying that if i finish in 48  hours, i would get paid for it.  I wasn't able to work that fast due to personal reasons.  He had paid me $100 up-front and i still had that when the contracted time was up.  My customer didn't ask for a refund and he still wanted me to work on it.  He still offered the $350 originally discussed.  I soon found out that my customer had been selling my work for money before i even finished it.  he had been offered more than twice the amount i was offered.  There was no problem there except for one thing, my customer had no money to pay for the product.  When i gave it to him, for nearly a week he had been putting off paying me for the reason of him waiting for money from the other guy.  When the other guy got tired of waiting, he had someone else make the product for him.  My customer then felt the product i sold him was useless and now he opened up a dispute.

QUESTION:

  How would I fight this?

There is no seller protection with paypal for virtual / digital / services.

So you may well lose some money.  Smiley Sad
