SSN Confirmation Issues

Due to some issues with another website, I decided to use paypal to pay for purchase. Luckily, I had enough in my account to cover said purchase, but I thought if this happened again I should put some more into my paypal balance. It says that I need to confirm my SSN number, but apparently just typing it in isn't good enough? I looked up on Paypal's OFFICIAL website saying it takes the following to confirm your SSN: your card, w2 form, tax return papers OR pay stubs. I have no W2, no tax return form and I'm not comfortable giving someone I don't know a photo of my SSN. So naturally I use pay stubs. This is where the trouble starts. I've taken god knows how many pictures of the same stubs, new stubs, and combinations of the two, and I keep getting different reasons for it being declined. First it was illegible now it's not acceptable due to lack of information. HOWEVER nowhere on the website does it say specifically what part of the stub they need to see. I've sent close ups of the only place where my SSN is, confirmation of address, and the date on it showing it's within the six month period. All have been declined no matter what.

So with all that I want to know: what do I have to do? I refuse to send someone a photo of a document that allows others to steal my identity and if the constant rejection is some ploy to FORCE me to send a photo of my card well I guess I'll just never add money to my paypal wallet.

Please, just someone tell me what I can possibly do to fix this.

If you refuse the submite the required identity documentation then PayPal can refuse to allow you full access to services.

You have a SSN, you have PayStubs which should show federal tax withholding, but you don't have W2 tax forms, and you haven't filed federal taxes.  This seems to be inconsistent.

You could phone PayPal customer service for assitance.

I dont see how showing a picture of the SS card would be riskier than just telling what your SS number is?

If someone wants to make fake SS card, all they need is your SS number and full name.

Your point of view doesn't really matter on this issue.  You either go by PayPal rules or find a service which works according to your policies.

There's no need for you to be cruel. People are entitled to opinions, and to share their frustration here, so your point of view, DPCreations doesn't really matter to me or help anyone here.

@mplsevan

So what is your problem?  You don't think PayPal policies should apply to you?

Well, they do.

Considering this just came out of no where for me and everyone I've talked to about it says don't send the photo as well, my fears are not unreasonable.

By that way of thinking, people shouldn't sign up for store credit cards either. How many times do you hear about companies being hacked and losing the info to people? People still do it despite the risk, so despite the risk I'm willing to type it out and put it on here. Since that info is stored in their secure servers I am not as hesitant to put it there. However, pictures can be easily shared and copied. There's nothing secure about that.

I have a job which is how i got the pay stubs and a ssn card.

I do not have my w2 since i don't even know if i can even get one from my job and i haven't filed taxes because i have no taxes to pay since i'm still living at home with family.

The only thing I have right now that'd i'd be comfortable sending them would be my stubs

Living at home does not mean you dont pay taxes or file income tax return,if your gross exceeds a certain amount, you have to file income tax return.

if you and Paypal cant come to agreement, then part way and find another processor.
