Mine does not work forcing me to manually input. I have an android but sliding the card does nothing

Nothing but problems with mine as well. I went to a "Smart Phone' specifically so I could accept cards while set up at venues. The first time I needed to use it, it took a LONG time and numerous re-tries to make it work. Fortunately, the customer was patient and waited.
This past weekend, I needed to use it again. Could not get it to work. Kept rejecting my password! By the time I finally got it to get past that issue, the customers left, saying they'd be back. Lost that sale.
Had to try to use it a third time. Took the password ok, got in. Said to swipe card. Didn't work after numerous attempts by myself and the customer, who was familiar with it. Keyed it in, then tried to get it to accept the transaction. Kept getting error messages of various sorts. The customer had a small amount of cash and I finally took 1/3 of what the item was priced for, thus losing 2/3 on that deal because of it. The customer said they'd made a purchase from another vendor and that vendor had used Square. Said it worked fine and was really quick.
I have the Square reader, but since it is 2.75 compared to PP's 2.70, I haven't tried it yet. But will next time. Three times at bat, three strikes...looks like my PP is out.

This was working fine last year (2013) on my Droid S3. I just opened the Paypal app today and it forced me to update the app.
Tried to read the card and did not see it at all. Tried a different reader...same problem. Tried a different card...same problem.
When will they fix this!!!!

We are on our second chip reader. We are a new start up and it is really affecting business. Have to ask for refund for them forcing us to enter cc manually. We got credited. It's been two months of difficulties with this transition. Almost time to leave PayPal. It's too bad.

Same problem for my mobile business. VERY FRUSTRATING! Having to manually imput now...often calls come in while entering and process is disrupted. paypal needs to offer a fixed-outboard swipe unit for mobile!

I have the exact same problem. I am a Samsung Android and the card reader says it is connected but does not read the card when I scan it.

I seem to be cursed with the same problems. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps several times with different reps. I have gone through 2 readers so far & they are sending me a third now. I get to the screen where it recognizes my car reader connection but when I swipe the card, NOTHING ! I go to practice screen, nothing. Like the chip in the card reader is just dead. If the 3rd one doiesn't work I give up. Cheap chinese made toy is what I call it.
