Student accounts are closing and now i can't buy anything?

Yesterday i recieved an e-mail from paypal saying that student accounts are closing and im perfectly fine with that.

But for some reason now I can't buy anything online.

I've tried Amazon, steam, and google play but they all say that my payment method is in-valid or that there's a error.

Does anyone know the reason to this? I haven't had a problem with using paypal to buy things online until now, and i would really like to spend the money i have on my account. I am using a student account.

You can transfer it back to your parent's account.  Didn't your parents open the account for you? Gees.  You needed your parent's info to open a student account.  Duh.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

You can still use the account until September 29 with student debit card and making online purchases but I would just use this time to find an alternative and make the transition than go on using the account.  And seeing it doesn't let you use it now I would take it as a sign to clear out the account and find an alternative.

That honestly doesn't help. I just want to use up the money thats in the account before it closes and i dont have anywhere to transfer it to because im under 18 and dont have a bank account! You're no help.

I already know that. the thing is that I shouldnt have to transfer my money over to my parent, then have her buy it for me or whatever.

Well, you can try once again to make a purchase casual-like, if it don't work, then I think you should transfer it back to your parent's account.  PayPal system can paranoid and could lock up the account and your money.  You can google Square Cash and Simple for more info on those services.

Doesn't the e-mail state that it will go to the parent account if you don't take action?

Whether or not you agree with PayPal's decision is irrelevant.

Your options are clearly stated.

Anyone know why they are doing this? It was a nice service. Any suggestions on a similar service elsewhere? Thanks CG

If you're over 18:   Simple  &  Square Cash

If you're not over 18:    Square Cash & A bank account with local bank
