Thanks for stopping by the PayPal Community Forums! 🙂 Great question about pending refunds and I'm happy to shed some light on this.

 

We start to process a refund as soon as the seller sends the refund. If your seller refunded you using their bank account, it may take 2 - 5 business days for a refund to be deposited to your PayPal account. This would be the reason for the pending status. 

 

Note:

  • If you paid with a credit card, the money is refunded to your card. If the card you paid with is closed or invalid, the money will still be refunded to your credit card account.
  • If you paid with your bank or PayPal account balance, the money is refunded to your PayPal account. After you have received the refund, you can withdraw money from your PayPal balance to your bank account.
  • If you paid using a credit card and your PayPal account balance, the amount paid by credit card is refunded to your card. The remaining amount is refunded to your PayPal account.
  • If the payment fails, the transaction status will change from "Pending" to "Cancelled" and the amount will not be credited.
  • If you wish to have information regarding a cancelled refund, please contact your seller.
