Received Money as a Merchant By Mistake

I recently received rent money from a friend of mine, (a first-time PayPal user). In trying to walk her through the process of sending money over the phone, she mistakenly sent it to me as a merchant instead of friends/family. At first I didn't think this would be problematic, but it's approaching a week now of not being able to access the money, and having to wait the full 21 days would be catastrophic. Is there any way to resolve this?

Phone customer services and ask them to release the pending payment back to your friends paypal account so they can pay using the correct option.

No guarantee they will or can do so but if you don't try you won't know.

Thanks for the response. If I cancel the payment via my transaction screen, would that have the same effect?
