Problem With PayPal Wallet

Hi,

I have faced this problem in two separate occasions. I want to purchase something by combining funds from my credit card and my PayPal balance. However, when I want to cmplete a purchase and I get redirected to PayPal Wallet I can only choose the credit card as a source for funding and, if the amount of money isn't enough,  the transaction just doesn't go through, without ever resorting to the use of my balance. The case is different when I get invoiced by somebody. Then, PayPal automatically add funds from the next available funding source to complete the transaction. The problem arises from the fact that (a) most big companies won't accept sending an invoice and require from you to complete your purchase through the automatic checkout system, (b) it is both time and money consuming, at least for someone in my area, to withdraw from my PayPal balance and then deposit the same amount to my credit/debit card, in order to have all my available funds concentrated in one funding source. Any insight on this situation will be deeply appreciated.

Best Wishes for the New Years Eve,

Nick

I solved it. The PayPal balance didn't show up because it was in a different currency. Once it was converted manually from the website everything worked out just fine. Thanks for the replies, have a happy new year's eve!

Select a preferred payment method in the Wallet page of your PayPal account.  Then when you review your payment page during checkout, change your payment method and see if the PayPal balance is an option.  PayPal recently updated our Wallet page and how we select our payment method so it may reset your payment setting or affected your choosing of the payment method.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thanks for the reply. There isn't another method available when try to change it. Nor I can find any such choice in my PayPal account menu.

Do you have a way to set your preferred payment method for online purchases in your account settings?

I cannot see into your account so the layout of my account and your may be different.

Are you using a personal or business account?  What are the links you see in your account menu?  Are you using mobile app or website?

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

@sharpiemarkerI am using a (verified) personal account. There is some setting related to the preferred payment method in myaccount/settings/payments but I am not able to change it. I am always using the website.

@Whac-A-MoleIt's a prepaid card, so if I try to surpass my limits the transaction is denied but only in wallet. As I explained above, in invoice it completed the necessary funds by adding money from the next available source . What is actually interesting is the fact that it only shows the credit/debit card in wallet as the single available choice when the available funds are HIGHER than the PayPal balance. In other cases, when the PayPal balance is higher than the remainder of the debit card, it shows the PayPal balance as the only choice, so it is really like PayPal knows how much I got in my card before I finalize the transaction.

we are allowed 2 Paypal accounts-business and personal.

what you can do is send your paypal fund to your other account, complete the purchase with 100% credit card, then go to your other account and refund the payment.

or keep it there and keep sending your paypal fund to it until you haev enough to make one full payment on your next purchase.

if you have a Paypal business debit card ,you can use it at website which accept credit card/debit card, use it as a credit card, the fund would come from your paypal fund plus bank fund, you wll get a 1% cash rebate from Paypal.

or just do some good planning, transfer enough from your bank account ahead of any purchase so you use 100% of your paypal fund to buy something.

how does Paypal know in advance you dont have enough in your credit card?

did you max out on your credit line/
