I made an order recently on ebay that was supposed to be taken from my bank account/debit card, but instead it sent an eCheck ?!? The auction I won requires payment within 2 days, and I cannot wait 6 days for the eCheck to go through. I was told that if the seller cancels the order due to nonpayment that I can get a strike against me from Ebay, and that with only a couple of these strikes, I won't be allowed to buy or sell on Ebay. I have bought a lot of things off Ebay and plan to sell a lot of things on Ebay, so I can't let this happen. This has happened a couple of times before, but luckily I've been able to deal with the sellers, and they have waited for the eChecks.
I have plenty of money in my account to cover the purchase, and I made several other purchases close to the same time, and they went through fine. I have a screenshot of my cart at checkout that shows the payment method as my bank account/debit card. Nowhere on it does it say anything about paying by eCheck. Bottom line, I need to find out WHY most orders go through just fine, but some orders are having eChecks sent, when there's no reason they should be. And HOW to fix it when it does happen. If they're going to send an eCheck, it should state this in your cart when you check out !!!
Would appreciate any help or info on this.
Thanks.

@Pesto May be nothing, but did you by any chance donate when you went through checkout? I don't see why it would affect anything, but I just noticed that the 2 (yep, another order did it) I have hung up were both ones I had donated a dollar or 2 to such and such charity.
Paypal is saying they are still waiting for them to accept payment. Would that maybe cause it to get hung up and send an echeck instead of paying.

Okay, have talked to both Ebay and PayPal customer services, and tried to find out all I could. Here is a little bit of info I'll post for just FYI purposes. This is what the customer service reps told me.
Instant Purchase: You make an order. PAYPAL pays the seller. Then PayPal sends a request for the funds to your bank. PayPal then waits for payment from your bank to them. The seller has already been paid. Your item can ship.
Echeck: You make an order. PayPal sends a request to YOUR BANK for funds. PayPal/seller waits for payment. The seller has NOT been paid. The item will NOT be shipped. Was told that the seller has to accept payment and that sometimes Ebay does not acknowledge that payment has been made. So make sure seller checks their PayPal acccount to make sure the funds are there. I was told that the seller shouldn't have a problem with an Echeck and should wait for it and not cancel your oder, but I wasn't told that they CAN'T. They said you should message the seller and tell him what's going on.
Was told that donations should have nothing to do with it because they are processed as seperate transactions.
During instant transactions, PayPal pays for the transaction themselves. So after a certain dollar amount or # of transactions or a combination of both, PayPal stops paying for it, kicking out an Echeck to request funds directly from your bank. This does NOT explain why I was still able to make instant transactions right AFTER the Echeck was sent, with me it seems to kick the Echecks out almost randomly, but it's the closest thing I could find to an answer.
If anyone finds out anything else, post it. 😛

No credit card. I've got a confirmed bank account and debit card, and am 100% verified.

see, with instant bank transfer,PAYPAL ponies up the money and pay your seller then it intends to collect from your bank account.
What if the account has no or not enough fund or you close your account same day, then Paypal would charge your credit card.
Without a credit card to fall back,Paypal would turn your transaction into an e check, your seller has to wait until the e check clears.
Paypal will attempt twice to debit your bank account,if it fails, then seller gets no money and Paypal loses no money.
ADD A CREDIT CARD!

It clearly states sellers are not allowed to refuse paypal payments and a paypal echeque is a paypal payment >>> from EBAYS help pages >>>
Sellers aren't allowed to make statements like:
'Contact us for payment information.'
'Contact us for other payment methods.'
'Contact us for your preferred payment method.'
'I accept PayPal but do not accept credit card payments through PayPal'
'I only accept PayPal if the bid amount is greater than £15'
'I don't accept electronic cheques or e-cheques through PayPal'
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
