Paypal Donate Button declines donation

I have a nonprofit business account with Paypal. I inserted a Paypal donate button on my website. Here's a sample:

I tried testing it with my credit card and my wife's credit card. Entering a test donation.

It says payment declined. Sorry we are unable to process your payment... blah blah blah?

What's up with that?

You cannot donate to yourself especially if any of the credit cards you are using to test are linked to your PayPal account.  It will look like you are trying to do cash advances to yourself or conducting suspicious behavior to PayPal 's security system..  It you are going to test, look into using a PayPal sandbox account.

I used my wife's debit card too. It's not registered to any Paypal account.

It still gives the same result.

It's a Paypal generated button btw, how do you test it in a sandbox account?

Is your wife's debit card linked to your bank account--the same account you use for PayPal?
