Yes - and it redirected to PayPal, where I chose Credit (and it said preferred) and then redirected back to the carnival site, and when I hit pay now, I got "YOUR PAYMENT REQUEST HAS BEEN DENIED. PLEASE VERIFY THE CARD INFORMATION PROVIDED OR USE ANOTHER FORM OF PAYMENT."
It just means that this purchase didn't qualify for payment with PayPal Credit. You need to select another payment method.
PayPal Credit is not like a regular credit card which you can use when you want. PayPal Credit evaluates each potential purchase for qualifications; there are multiple levels of risk considered.
PayPal goes through multiple levels of checks for risk and qualications, even after one selects a PayPal Credit option. That's why it's a good idea to make sure you have backup funding available in case the payment does not complete as PayPal Credit.
