PayPal Credit Issues

I am unable to use PayPal credit for anything. I have read a lot of posts about people having the same issues, but the common story is that there are never solutions. I used it for 2 purchases 14 days ago (small amounts) and now  I cannot use PayPal credit as a payment option ANYWHERE, EVEN THE MERCHANTS I ALREADY PURCHASED FROM!? When does this "security hold" expire? When will I be able to use it again? Did anyone have to do anything or did it happen on it's own? I have called 5 times and sent 4 emails.

All that matters is that you make your payments on time, manage your PayPal account transactions, maintain a very high credit score, and other financial matters.  PayPal Credit will be offered as a payment option when all factors come together.  It may tak a couple months until your PayPal Credit security risk goes down.

The solution is to have patience.

If you are in a hurry to use credit, just use a non-PayPal credit card.

I am very confused as to why I was even approved in the first place? Why approve a credit line and then restrict all purchases until that person can prove they will pay on time (can't pay something with no balance) and if credit score is a factor then, again, why was I approved? My credit was pulled in the application. This is SO much different than any other form of credit I have ever experienced. I would have been much happier had I been rejected altogether now that I know how this works, especially given I opened this for a little Black Friday Christmas gift shopping if I found the right deal. I wouldn't have even looked had I known this was a dead end. But I'm sure February will come soon enough......

I appreciate your answer, it has by far been the most informational (spoke with 9 different agents through email and phone) as to why this happening, and my angst is not directed at you, it's just general confusion as to the thought process by PayPal Credit.

Giving an initial limit and then allowing use are 2 diffrerent processes and use 2 different risk evaluations.  Confusing, yes.

Why?  No idea.  "It's just the way it works" is the best explanation.  It's PayPal's product and PayPal's rules.

I never applied; it just popped up one day for a big purchase; I did a quick learnng as it was all new, then I made the promottional purchase.

I do think ti helps to have an extremely high credit score and a huge amount of available credit card avaiablle credit.  Those with good financial track records get the best future deals.  

The stronger your finacial situation and credit history the more likely to have a real PayPal Creidt pormotion offered at time of purchase.

The same thing happen with me,  I am waiting more than 365 and believe more than 500 days, i sent 1 million emails. 

I think they trying to steal your money. 

I did whaever you expect, All my time sending emails making sucks calls.  

I lost the double of the money on calls.  

Every card I used is easily connect with anyother account.  

I think we are in wrong place.  

And I just need my money, then I will block paypal even in my websites comments and posts.

They are talking about PayPal Credit.  Not credits cards!  No one is trying to steal your money for pete's sake.  

You opened a PayPal account in a country where you do not legally reside in because PayPal does not offer services in your country.  That is a big problem. You cannot do that.  Those countries are without PayPal services for a reason.  Again, you need to CALL PayPal customer service to speak with an agent to explain what you did and about adding a withdraw method.  You will need to provide proof of identity.

I also think the reason why you cannot add a card is that you are really located in a country that does not offer PayPal services so maybe your card is also not accepted by the system.  This and the fact when you contact PayPal, you are probably ranting and raving that the automated system could not properly detect your problem and cannot respond.

Not true I have great credit great payment history income in the high 6 figures..And I too am being blocked after 2 purchases eBay purchases..And I've done every verification they can throw my way so it's not that

BC Payal has made up their own rules and to many PPL have allowed it....It's the only reason they do this

Hey!  I think you guys are making this too complicated. 

4 am I was buying something on ebay and I noticed that my payment came from my verified account instead of the usual credit paypal i use very often.   So next purchase I watched a saw that it would go on a linked atm-visa-verifed bank account so I just closed the window an waited an hour.  (may be this happens when they are up dateing their site.) 

The next time I went to pay for the item option were availabe for paypal and paypal credit.  So I checked credit and it asked me if i had a pp account i checked yes and everything went fine. The paymet went to my paypal credit account.  Hope this helps.

As I stated, when all comes together for good, PayPal Credit will be offered, just like it happened for you.  You confirmed my premise.
