Family & Friends option - what is it even there for?

I'm doing some trades via PP and all this time I thought I'm perfectly safe with Friends&Family option.
But, earlier, I got an info that person which sent me money through PayPal (buyer), can easily request that money back, as in Goods&Services option. I'm quite shocked atm. Didn't know I can get scammed any way that buyer wants to scam me.

So, I'll ask again - why there's even 2 options of payments on PP, if none can guarantee you safety???

Thx.

The friends and family option is there to send money to friends and family eg birthday money etc.

Thats why it is free if they don't use a card to fund it.

However it is totally against paypal rules to sell and use that option because you are evading paying your seller fees and trying to negate your buyers protection.

A buyer can't open a paypal dispute if they use that option BUT they can do a chargeback directly via their card issuer if they funded their paypal payment that way.

And if they do so then you have no seller protection because you accepted payment that way.

Personally I am shocked that you are using that method to try and evade your fees and surprised that your paypal account has not been limited yet.

So again I ask why would you use that method if not to try and scam your buyers and evade your paypal fees?

No selling transaction is totally safe, you have to read up on seller protection and then risk assess your own transactions.

I obviously not trying to scam anyone. And as you see, I'm totally new to PayPal. Was using that feature cause I was referred to use that instead of goods&services. Some ppl told me that in case of friends&family feature, buyers can't chargeback money they sent me.

After I revealed they can do it, came here and wrote an article about it. Thx for your explanation. Point taken.
